One of the most unique stand-up comics working today, Canadian-born Jeremy Hotz is a proven international success. With stellar performances at the Montreal Comedy Festival: Just For Laughs and sold-out Canadian theatre tours, as well as performances across the United States, Europe and Australia, Jeremy continues to grab audiences with his completely original and confused, yet astute, observational comedy.
In 1997, he performed at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and received a standing ovation after his debut performance at the festival’s prestigious television gala. He returned in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005—when the Globe and Mail voted him Best Performer—2007, 2008—when the Montreal Gazette chose him as Best in Fest—2011–2013, and 2016. American studios and networks soon took notice, and Jeremy was offered development deals from CBS, Disney and Comedy Central.
Another highlight was his debut on The Late Show with David Letterman, followed by five appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He has appeared on Comedy Central with his own stand-up special and filmed What A Miserable Show This Is… and Some of the Best of Jeremy Hotz for CTV. In 2018, Jeremy released the one-hour special Dangerously Handsome.
Beyond stand-up, Jeremy appeared as a regular in the final season of HBO Canada’s Call Me Fitz, guest-starred on Unusually Thicke, and joined Jay Leno on Jay Leno’s Garage. His film credits include My Favorite Martian and Speed 2. He starred in Comedy Central’s four-part mini-series Married Life and earned a Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Comedy Show or Series for CBC and PBS series The Newsroom.
Jeremy was also a staff writer and performer on the critically acclaimed The Jon Stewart Show and received a Gemini nomination for Best Writing in a Comedy or Variety Show or Series for his half-hour special Whatever Happened to Jeremy Hotz?
In 2008, Jeremy received the Dave Broadfoot Comic Genius Award at the Canadian Comedy Awards, followed by Best Male Stand-Up in 2009. After headlining the Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland Comedy Festivals, he received the Sydney Comedy Festival Jury Prize for Best International Performer.
In 2024, Jeremy celebrated his tenth national tour with Très Misérables, a new show filled with his iconic miserable jokes and mishaps, accompanied by Shackleton, his long-haired Chihuahua and emotional support animal.
